Biography
David J. Biehl, a Partner/Director of Garfunkel, Wild & Travis, P.C., is Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Group and a member of the firm’s Finance, Business and Health Care Practice Groups.

Mr. Biehl specializes in real estate and corporate transactions, representing a broad range of proprietary and not-for-profit businesses, as well as individual clients.

While Mr. Biehl has extensive experience in complex corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and employment arrangements, he is also adept at handling more routine business and personal matters. His practice also includes regulatory and tax analysis for health care providers, hospitals, nursing homes, tax-exempt organizations, physicians, and physician groups.

In addition, Mr. Biehl has extensive experience in complex real estate transactions, including commercial leasing projects, public and private financings, acquisitions, sales, construction projects and equipment acquisitions. He has acted as lead counsel in the development of numerous medical, commercial and industrial buildings, continuing care retirement communities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, diagnostic and therapeutic radiology facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, cancer centers and mixed-use facilities.

Mr. Biehl contributed to the New York Health Law Update, a monthly newsletter addressing New York and federal law developments affecting health care and tax-exempt organizations, and has lectured on various aspects of developing and financing continuing care retirement communities and other long-term care facilities in New York.

Mr. Biehl is a member of the American Bar Association (Health Law Section) and the New York State Bar Association (Real Property and Health Law Sections).

A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany (B.A., cum laude, 1984), Mr. Biehl earned his J.D in 1987 from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he was a member of the Cardozo Law Review. While in law school, Mr. Biehl was a law clerk for the Honorable William C. Connor, United States District Court, Southern District of New York.
