Biography
Michelle Lewis Salzman is a member of the firm's Personal Services and Estate Planning, Tax Practice and Discharge Planning, Patient Rights and Elder Law groups. Ms. Salzman's work includes estate planning, administration, litigation, charitable giving, tax-exempt organization as well as general matters of taxation.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Salzman was most recently a Managing Director in the healthcare group at Bear Stearns. Before that, she worked at Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley, providing institutional investment clients with analyses of companies in the global healthcare industry, including hospital, laboratory, diagnostic, managed care, distribution, pharmaceutical, medical technology and biotechnology firms.

After law school, Ms. Salzman worked at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in the Taxation and Trusts & Estates practices, with a specialty in not-for-profit clients and 501(c)(3) organizations. She was a contributor to "New York Not for Profit Law and Practice with Tax Analysis", a leading treatise focusing on treatment of tax-exempt organizations in New York. Before law school, she worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Ms. Salzman is a graduate of Amherst College (summa cum laude, 1989), where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and received her J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1994, where she served on the Executive Board of the Annual Survey of American Law. She received her L.L.M. in taxation from NYU in 1996. She has served on the Board of Directors of Discover the Smile, a charity benefitting North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital, and is on the junior committee of the Sass Foundation for Medical Research.
